Man shot, fatally wounded by police in Vt.
BURLINGTON — Burlington Police said an officer shot and fatally wounded a man wielding a shovel he refused to put down.
Officers were called to a house on Randy Lane after a disturbance was reported there around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Police Chief Michael Schirling said.
Police said the man confronted the officers and was shot after they failed to convince him to drop the shovel. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.
No officers were injured.
Vermont State Police have been asked to investigate the shooting and Burlington police said an internal investigation is under way. The unidentified officers have been placed on administrative leave.
The man’s name is expected to be released today.MORE IN This Just InMONTPELIER — The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board has voted to ban the possession and use by...
