MORETOWN — Residents voted 119-32 to approve taking on a $40,000 loan to help finance a new town office Tuesday.

The office will be built on what is called the Playground Lot, the piece of land on the opposite side of the municipal parking lot from Moretown Elementary School.

Two years ago, the Moretown town clerk’s office was destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene.

The total cost of the replacement project is $865,000, with $700,000 to be state and federal funding. The remaining money will come primarily from insurance.
