MIDDLESEX — A resident of Northern Ireland who was involved in an accident in central Vermont early Monday morning is expected to be charged with drunken driving later this month.

State police said 46-year-old Lisa Carville was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. Monday following a report of a two-car accident on the Route 2 overpass in Middlesex.

According to police, Carville was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze east on Route 2 when she drifted into the westbound lane and slammed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.

Police did not identify the second driver, or indicate whether anyone was injured in the accident. They did say Carville was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Carville is scheduled to be arraigned at the criminal courthouse in Barre on Nov. 21.
