    Keep up the good work

I am writing to thank reporter Eric Blaisdell for his reporting on the issues around the First Amendment rights of Montpelier Planning Director Gwen Hallsmith.

Regardless of who may be right or wrong, it is troubling that both Bill Fraser and Sarah Jarvis, in their letters to this paper, have attempted to morph the issue into a personnel matter. Characterizing it as such, and airing specific concerns about Ms. Hallsmith’s overall performance in public is a highly questionable tactic and could easily be seen as an attempt to divert attention from the larger issue of an employee’s right to express personal opinions outside the workplace.

If The TimesArgus once again becomes a newspaper which is willing to objectively sort out the facts in a case like this, I will happily re-subscribe. Keep up the good work.
