• Fatality blamed on drowsy driver

    MORGAN — Vermont State Police say a driver fell asleep and drifted into oncoming traffic on Route 111 in Morgan, causing a crash that killed the driver of an oncoming car.

    Pauline Marsden, 63, of Island Pond, died in the crash.

    Police said 18-year-old Joseph Logan, of North Troy, was driving a pickup truck west on Route 111 at about 4 p.m. Wednesday when he fell asleep and awoke to a passenger yelling at him.

    Marsden was struck head-on. Police said she died on impact.

    Logan was not hurt; the two passengers in his pickup were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police are still investigating.
