    Message is timeless

“More than a political metaphor, more than a moral tale, The Crucible, as it developed over more than a year, became the awesome evidence of the power of human imagination inflamed, the poetry of suggestion, and the tragedy of heroic resistance to a society possessed to the point of ruin.”

We have recently witnessed the degree to which right-wing fanatics like Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and their like, driven by their religious extremism, are willing to bring this country to its knees in the service of their beliefs.

While the residents of central Vermont have a chance, I urge them to witness the brilliant metaphor of what they are trying to do in Arthur Miller’s timeless play at the Lost Nation Theater while it is still around (until Sunday) — written during the anti-Communist witch hunt of the 1950s, it’s as accurate today as ever. Look at the play and be warned of Miller’s message.
