MIDDLESEX — A Middlesex resident has been elected to the Vermont Historical Society Board of Trustees.

Woden Teachout is a professor at Union Institute and University whose research and writings explore the intersection of history, politics and patriotism, according to a news release.

Teachout has given talks for the Vermont Humanities Council academic speaker series, including most recently, “What We Learn When We Learn History.”

Her experiences teaching nontraditional students in an online, progressive education setting have piqued her interest in the method and practice of teaching history. She is a member of the New England Historical Association, where she has presented a number of papers and chaired panels on teaching history.
