BARRE — Local snowmobile clubs say they are desperate for help getting the trails ready for winter or the trails may be closed for the 2014 season.

The 14 snowmobile clubs in Washington County are looking for help from any and all winter enthusiasts on projects including bridge building and trail maintenance to prepare for the season.

Early spring rains and other summer weather events created much work to be done to get the trails back in shape.

Anyone interested in helping is asked to contact their local snowmobile club or visit the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers website at www.vtvast.org.
