Norwich hosting cyber war expert
NORTHFIELD — Norwich University will kick off the fall 2013 Todd Lecture Series with a presentation titled “The Future of Cyber” by retired Vice Adm. John M. “Mike” McConnell on Oct. 24.
The free public talk will take place in the Plumley Armory at 7 p.m.
McConnell is vice chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton, a provider of management and technology consulting services to the U.S. government, where his primary roles include serving on the firm’s leadership team and leading Booz Allen’s rapidly expanding cyber business, according to a news release from Norwich University.
McConnell joined Booz Allen after retiring from the Navy in 1996. In 2007 he left the firm to serve as the director of national intelligence under Presidents Bush and Obama, and returned in 2009 to lead the firm’s intelligence business focused on policy, transformation, homeland security and intelligence analytics.
“Cyber warfare is one of the big questions for the near future — how imminent is it and how damaging will it be — and having someone of the admiral’s stature and experience here to discuss the issue is really a treat for us,” said the dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Andrea Talentino, in the release.MORE IN This Just InMONTPELIER — Gov.
