    Stop for speeding

    nets DUI citation

WAITSFIELD — A Warren man, who state police claim was speeding down Route 100 in a 40-year-old Volkswagen late Saturday night, is expected to be charged with driving under the influence when he is arraigned next month in Barre.

Police say they pulled over a 1973 Volkswagen Karmann operated by 64-year-old David Campanelli at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday. Campanelli, police allege, had been driving in excess of the posted speed limit.

During the course of the traffic stop, police arrested Campanelli for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was later released on a citation to appear at the criminal courthouse in Barre on Nov. 7. He is expected to be charged at that time.
