• Call to police lands man in jail as fugitive

    MONTPELIER — Police say they found a fugitive from justice in Montpelier when he called them to report his vehicle was stolen or repossessed.

    Robert Goldstein, 37, contacted Montpelier police Saturday about his vehicle. Police say that during the investigation they learned he faces 29 felony counts of forgery in Cleveland, Tenn. Montpelier police contacted law enforcement in Cleveland, who said they were willing to extradite Goldstein.

    Goldstein was arrested and held on $10,000 bail as a fugitive from justice until he could be transported.
