BARRE TOWN — The family Mass of Christian burial for Glenna C. George, a longtime Barre Town resident, was celebrated Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. She died Sept. 13, 2013, at the Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield.

The Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant and homilist.

Crucifer Lawrence Reilly led the Prayer of the Faithful and was altar server.

Granddaughter Amy Arsenault read from the Old Testament, and the New Testament was read by grandson Robert Poratti. The gifts were bought to the altar by daughters Beverly Jacobs and Vicki Poratti. Vicki also offered words of remembrance of her mother.

Special prerecorded hymns, “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On The Mountain,” were played during the Mass, and the song, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” at the cemetery, all sung by great-granddaughter Bethany Carrier.

Organist Rosemary Badeau accompanied singers Romeo Bilodeau and Richard Shadroui in the hymns, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “How Great Thou Art.”

The bearers were her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia George, and grandsons, Mathew and Kellen George, and Robert and Christopher Poratti.

Burial was made in the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier, with Father Bilodeau reading the committal prayers.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of the arrangements.
