Former tax commissioner’s memorial is today
MONTPELIER — Vermont political leaders and others are set to gather to remember Norris Hoyt, a former lawmaker and tax commissioner who died last month.
Hoyt, known as a happy warrior and someone who sought to level the playing field between the wealthy and average Vermonters, died of congestive heart failure.
The memorial is set for 4 p.m. today at the Norwich home Hoyt shared with his wife, Kathy Hoyt, a longtime top aide to former Gov. Howard Dean.
As a legislator and tax commissioner, Norris Hoyt worked on programs to reduce the property tax burden on farmers and guard against land speculation.MORE IN This Just InBridge replacement meeting in East Montpelier on Thursday evening Full StoryYestermorrow event for prospective students Full Story
