PLAINFIELD — A Williamstown man who crashed his vehicle into a building in Plainfield village Saturday during the town’s 100th anniversary celebration of its fire department has been cited by Vermont State Police.

State police say John Buskey, 36, was cited Tuesday on a charge of negligent operation and is scheduled to appear in Washington County criminal court in late October.

Witnesses said Buskey was driving very fast on Mill Street when he tried to turn left onto Main Street and hit the corner of an apartment building. His vehicle ended up hanging precariously off a bridge. Buskey was pulled out of the vehicle when it started tipping forward toward the Winooski River.

State police said Buskey did not suffer any known injuries in the crash and that no one was home in the apartment he hit.
