• Driver blames another for Route 2 crash

    PLAINFIELD — A Barre man who crashed Saturday on Route 2 said he was avoiding a head-on collision, according to Vermont State Police.

    State police say they responded to the crash near Route 14 and found Collin Howard, 20. Howard told state police an oncoming vehicle was driving in his lane and that he swerved into the guard rail to avoid it. Howard’s vehicle then traveled across both lanes of travel and struck the rock fence that bordered the westbound shoulder.

    State police say there was no evidence of a second vehicle and that Howard’s 1999 Jeep Cherokee was totaled. Howard suffered non-incapacitating injuries to his back, state police say.
