    Gas and a smile

We have all had those mornings ó mornings where nothing seems to work out the way you expect and you have places to be, a schedule to keep, and in my case on Monday morning, cars that just arenít cooperating.

I had my two children in the car, a car I never drive, that also needed fuel, when I pulled into Parkerís Quick Stop in Montpelier, on the wrong side for the gas tank, of course. We were late, there was a loud conflict brewing between the kids in the back seat, ongoing from the long ride to town, and I was doing my best to keep it together.

Out walked Jeff, with a smile on his face, at that moment when I thought I would just sit there and cry.

He gave an encouraging word and proceeded to pump my gas for me (this is a self-service station).

With a simple smile, and a small action, he helped turn my day around.

We all composed ourselves, the kids and I, and headed to school on a positive note, with everyone smiling.

You may choose to buy gas where it is the cheapest on a given day, you may choose based on a rewards card from a large chain, but I will continue to get my gas at Parkerís.

Hopefully the guys over there wonít mind me pointing out their kindness, and how it really does make a difference for their customers. If they do, Iím sure I will hear about it next Monday!
