SAXTONS RIVER — A group that protects one of New England’s major waterways wants to integrate its message into school programs.

The Connecticut River Watershed Council is promoting River of Words, an environmental art and poetry program aimed at promoting watershed awareness as well as literacy and the arts.

Online lesson plans are aligned with state educational standards and are designed to connect youth to the natural and cultural resources of their local environments.
