Images from the “Labor of Love” exhibit are shown on display.

A new multimedia exhibit at the Vermont State Fair and the Chaffee Downtown celebrates women on the job.

“Labor of Love” was created in a partnership between Vermont Works for Women — a nonprofit that since 1987 has encouraged girls and women to pursue careers and financial independence — and the Vermont Folklife Center.

The exhibit showcases 29 women from across the state who are passionate about their work, exemplify excellence in their fields and are inspirations to others. They were nominated by their peers from among 150 entries and include farmers, doctors, tattoo artists, college presidents, electricians, CEOs, general store clerks and entrepreneurs.

Local women in the exhibit include Nancy Heydinger, of Vernon, the executive director of Girls on The Run Vermont; Tara Kelly, of Rutland, executive director of Rutland Area Farm and Food Link; Sandy Lincoln, of Rochester, owner of Sandy’s Books and Bakery; and Lucy Martin, of Danby, manager of White’s Fuel Stop.

The exhibit will run through Sunday in the Presidents Building #17 at the Vermont State Fair. Afterwards, it will run from Sept. 10-18 at Chaffee Downtown, located at 75 Merchants Row. There will be a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13.
