Stay out of Syria
I don’t claim to know with certainty what is going on in Syria. But the U.S. government has lied us into war numerous times, and this is no different. To me, here is what does not meet the smell test:
Why would Assad launch a chemical weapons strike when U.N. inspectors are in the country and such a strike is likely to give Western powers an excuse to launch a military strike?
If Assad did it, why would he allow U.N. inspectors in to possibly find evidence against him?
The U.S. claims that Assad has destroyed evidence, but the attack was in rebel-held areas, so how could he possibly have done this?
Why are the Western powers in such a rush that they won’t even wait for the U.N. inspectors and won’t bring the whole thing to the U.N.?
Maybe Assad did do it, but right now this whole thing stinks of an impending attack. This is a civil war, and the United States should stay out of it. Peace!
