SOUTH BURLINGTON — Vermont’s only natural gas company is a step closer to the development of a pipeline through Addison County.

Vermont Gas says it has reached an agreement with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission on some issues, such as providing service to several villages along the route.

Vermont Public Radio reported that the agreement has been filed with the Public Service Board, which is to start hearings next month on the proposal.

Vermont Gas wants to expand its footprint from Chittenden and Franklin counties in northwestern Vermont south through Addison County.
