• Police: Drowned man fell first

    BURLINGTON — Police believe the drowning of a Burlington man in Lake Champlain happened after he fell.

    The body of 39-year-old Gregory Peruzzi was found near Oakledge Park by a resident of a nearby condominium on Aug. 15.

    Burlington police believe he slipped and fell and then drowned.

    But police said this week they won’t make an official statement until toxicology results are complete. That could take about six weeks.

    Police do not suspect foul play.
