    August 21,2013

    Staff Report

WILLIAMSTOWN — A Williamstown woman’s ill-timed attempt to do a U-turn on Interstate 89 Tuesday evening ended when she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

State police say they were operating stationary radar in the Williamstown U-turn, monitoring the speed of northbound traffic, when Linda Carrier pulled in beside them shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Carrier, 50, was headed south when police claim she tried to reverse direction using the U-turn that was occupied by one of their cruisers.

After a brief investigation, police determined Carrier was driving under the influence. She was released with a citation to appear in Orange County criminal court in Chelsea on Sept. 4. Carrier is expected to be charged with DUI at that time, police said.
