ORANGE — A Mass of Christian burial for Bernard V. Benoit Sr., 71, who died Aug. 10, 2013, was held Friday, Aug. 16, in St. Monica Church in Barre. The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor, was the celebrant.
Words of remembrance were offered by Lisa Woodworth, daughter; Bernard Benoit, son; and Joshua Woodworth, grandson.
Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Nancy Benoit, daughter-in-law, and Joanne Dorben, sister-in-law, read Scriptures from the New Testament.
Pallbearers were Josh Woodworth, Nick Benoit and Branden Benoit, grandsons; James Stack, nephew; Donald Woodworth, son-in-law; and TJ Morse, a family friend.
Burial followed the Mass at the Brookhaven Cemetery in Orange, where the Rev. Bilodeau offered committal prayers. Military honors were accorded by the funeral detail from the Vermont Army National Guard. Taps was sounded. The American flag was folded and presented to Claire Benoit, wife of the deceased.
A reception followed at the Canadian Club in Barre.
Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St. in Barre.
