    Henry L. Gray Rites

    DUNN, N.C. — A funeral service and a celebration of life for Henry L. Gray, 84, of Wellons Avenue and formerly of Barre, who passed away on Aug. 9, 2013, at the Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, N.C., was held on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the East Barre Congregational Church. The Rev. Tim Sargent, pastor of the church, led the service.

    Pianist Emily Sargent accompanied the congregation in the hymns, “Shall We Gather at the River?” “In the Garden” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.”

    Words of remembrance were shared by Beverly Gray, daughter-in-law; Valerie Solorzano, granddaughter; Larry Gray, son; Diane Paulger and Donna Copeland, both stepdaughters; as well as other members of the congregation.

    Pallbearers were: Jeff Foran, Jason Douse, Michael Burzycki, Brett Orvis and Kurt Copeland, grandsons; Richard Douse and Stanley Burzycki, both sons-in-law.

    Burial followed the service at the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier, where the Rev. Tim Sargent offered committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the deceased by the funeral detail from the Vermont Army National Guard. Taps was sounded. The American flag was folded and presented to his daughter, Teresa Lusk. Roses were placed on his casket by family members.

    Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club in Barre for a time of fellowship and luncheon.

    Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
