Hatchery goes green with solarAugust 19,2013
NEWARK — The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department recently installed a 132-panel solar electric system at its Bald Hill Fish Culture Station in Newark. The system will replace 75 percent of current electricity consumption with renewable solar energy and will also provide a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
The project will also save the department more than $200,000 in energy costs over the life of the panels.
Approximately half of the project costs were funded by a grant from the Vermont Small Scale Renewable Energy Incentive Program through the Department of Public Service.
