    History group seeks new building

ST. JOHNSBURY — A history group in the Vermont town of St. Johnsbury is looking for a home and the money to pay for it.

The St. Johnsbury History and Heritage Center needs space to establish a museum of local artifacts that are being discarded by the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium.

The history center had been ready to use the town’s former armory on Main Street, but officials backed away from the deal because of concerns about the presence of toxic chemicals and a lack of grants to fix the problem.

Now the nonprofit is seeking a building and $250,000 in donations from 250 donors.
