    Massage therapists, unite

I am writing in response to the article in the July 26 Times Argus regarding Mayor Lauzon’s idea of how to control the threat of prostitution and human trafficking in Barre.

I have been a massage therapist for 26 years. I have more than 1,200 hours of training and am nationally certified. I would be happy to show you my license and documented training, but a criminal background check? Fingerprinting? My weight? Really?? I wonder if other Barre businesses would comply with these same requirements to operate in Barre. Do you exert this much scrutiny to Planet Rock?

I call out to all central Vermont massage therapists who also oppose the proposed ordinance to join me at the first public forum Tuesday at City Hall at 7 p.m. to voice your thoughts and concerns.

Mayor Lauzon “looks at this as an ounce of prevention-type ordinance.” Seems to me it’s more like a ton.
