WOODSTOCK — Police in Woodstock say a hotel bookkeeper turned herself in on embezzlement charges.

Woodstock police say that this spring The Shire Riverview reported that it suspected 56-year-old Pamela Smith had embezzled money from the business between June 2007 and April this year.

Authorities say the investigation showed that Smith, of Woodstock, had taken more than $200,000 from the business in the form of checks, cash and electronic transfers.

Police say Smith turned herself in Wednesday. The Windsor County public defender’s office did not know if she was being represented by an attorney. Smith could not be reached for comment.
