• Brothers accused in assault, robbery

    BARRE — Police are looking for one of two brothers allegedly involved in an armed robbery in Barre on July 13.

    Police say David J. Garneau, 33, of Barre, and Jonathan M. Garneau, 30, of Williamstown, went into the residence of Nathan Lucier on Brook Street looking for money. Police say Jonathan Garneau took a silver and brass pistol and used it to pistol whip Lucier. Police say David Garneau also started punching Lucier.

    After beating him, police say, the Garneaus sat Lucier on his bed and demanded money. Lucier told police David Garneau then went to a dresser drawer and took out $1,185 in cash. The brothers then threatened Lucier that they would “finish the job” if he went to the police and threatened to shoot his dog before they left, according to police.

    Police say the brothers left in a red Saturn Vue with Vermont plates and a gold star on the plate.

    Arrest warrants were issued for both brothers. Police say David Garneau has since been arrested on the warrant but that Jonathan Garneau is still at large and considered armed and dangerous.
