    Melanie L. Carter Rites

MARSHFIELD — Melanie Lynne Carter’s life was honored and celebrated on Friday, July 12, 2013, at 4 p.m. at her home on Patty’s Crossing, at the foot of Lord’s Hill, where she passed away on July 7, 2013.

A barbecue and potluck dinner followed, which was hosted by her family.

Carlyle Pierce, pastor of the Marshfield United Church and the Grace Methodist Church in Plainfield, led the service.

Special prerecorded songs selected by her family provided a wealth of comfort to the congregation.

Words of remembrance and reflections were offered by her sister Lisa Copeland, and longtime friends Brittany Bickford, Brad Sancibrian and Clinton Holt. Brother and sister-in-law Brian and Trish Carter thanked the attendees for all the love, caring and support extended to Melanie’s family.

Since Melanie was 42 years old, 42 balloons in her favorite color, purple, were released skyward and as it got dark, there was a fireworks display.

Pastor Pierce also led a family prayer service Thursday evening at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre.
