    Erik J. Mears Rites

    BARRE — A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre for Erik J. Mears, 30, of Washington Street. He passed away June 27, 2013, at his home.

    The Rev. Daniel Lokanga, parochial vicar of the church, was the celebrant.

    Crucifer Fred Letourneau was altar server and led the Prayer of the Faithful.

    Organist and vocalist Rosemary Badeau accompanied Ronald Routhier in the hymns, “Be Not Afraid,” “The Lord Is My Shepherd,” “Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life,” “In the Garden,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art.”

    Words of remembrance were offered by his niece Jillian Miller.

    Scripture readings from the Old and New Testament were read by Fred Letourneau.

    Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Jillian Miller and Alexandria Miller, both nieces, and Gabriel Smith, a nephew.

    Assisting as Eucharistic minister was Fred Letourneau.

    In attendance were members of the Berlin Fire Department.

    Following the Mass, family and friends gathered at the home of Sara Young, Erik’s sister, on Queen Street for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

    Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
