WATERBURY CENTER — The Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) has hired Katie Titterton as its communications director. Titterton will manage and strengthen CLiF’s public relations and overall communications, as well as the organization’s corporate and donor outreach.

Before moving to Vermont in 2008, Titterton worked in the marketing department of nonprofit publisher Beacon Press. For the last five years she worked in the development office of Shelburne Museum, managing the museum’s membership base of over 7,000 and developing new outreach programs.

She lives in Richmond with her husband.

Over the past 15 years CLiF has supported and inspired 140,000 low-income, at-risk, and rural young readers and writers in almost 85 percent of the towns across Vermont and New Hampshire through author visits, writing workshops, seminars, storytelling and many other types of literacy presentations. CLiF has also donated more than $2.5 million in new, high-quality children’s books to tens of thousands of deserving young readers.

CLiF does not receive any federal or state funds for its programs, relying solely on donations from individuals, local companies, social organizations and foundations. If you would like to find out more about CLiF or make a donation, visit www.clifonline.org or contact Executive Director Duncan McDougall at 802-244-0944.
