King Arthur named top retailerJuly 08,2013
NORWICH — King Arthur Flour was named the Northeast Resource Recovery Association retailer of the year.
With three locations in Vermont — one in Norwich and two in White River Junction — King Arthur Flour annually recycles 33 tons of zero-sort material and 76 tons of cardboard, in addition to wood and metal recycling, through Northeast Waste’s zero-sort recycling program.
The company’s current initiatives include cardboard reduction and reuse, composting, K-cup recycling, use of EO water bottles, and a flour silo that prevents an estimated 22,800 bags from entering the waste stream. Future plans include a shrink-wrap compactor and a transition to compostable paper goods and utensils for employees.MORE IN This Just InWeston Playhouse Theatre Company opened its 79th season with a slice of Vermont hick.
