• Man found dead in Lake Groton

    GROTON — Vermont State Police say a Massachusetts man apparently drowned in Groton early Friday.

    Kirk Biancardi, 24, of Grafton, Mass., was found in Lake Groton after state police responded to a possible drowning.

    Police said his body was found in about 2 feet of water before troopers arrived.Police said there were no signs of foul play.

    They are still investigating the death. Biancardi’s body was sent to the chief medical examiner for an autopsy.

    Statewide this summer, there have been a record number of drownings. This week alone, two other drownings were reported, including that of a Barre teenager.
