HUNTINGTON — Flash flooding Wednesday afternoon made a number of roads impassable in Huntington and Hinesburg.

The Burlington Free Press reported a Vermont State Police dispatcher said the flooding washed out parts of a road in Huntington, stranding a woman and two children who were traveling on the road.

Parts of Chittenden and Washington counties were under a flash flood warning until Wednesday evening.

The state activated its emergency operations center in Waterbury to respond to any requests for resources.

The flooded or washed-out roads included Hayden Hill, Meadow and Texas Hill roads in Hinesburg and Sherman Hollow and Happy Hollow roads and East Street in Huntington.
