BARRE The next Barre Blood Drive is July 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Barre Elks Lodge. Organizers were informed by the Red Cross that low blood and platelet donation levels have been reported for June and thus far for July. Donations were down approximately 10 percent in June 2013, resulting in about 40,000 fewer donations. The Barre area community has always shown great support of the blood drive. All presenting donors will receive a "Lifesaver" T-shirt on July 8. They will also receive a $2.50 coupon for Turkey Hill Natural Ice Cream, a chance to win two tickets to a Boston Red Sox Game, and from 7/1-7/15 a chance to win one of five $3,000 American Express gift cards. The Blood Drive is sponsored by Project Independence, whose participants make delicious sandwiches and cookies for every Barre drive. To make an appointment visit redcrossblood.org or call (800) RED CROSS. See you there.
