    Staff Report

BARRE — Two people have been removed from the rushing Jail Branch below Spaulding Falls. Both individuals — males — are alive, stabilized and are on their way to Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin for treatment. Rescuers were called to the scene, of Ayer Street, for a report of a double drowning. One individual was pulled safely from the rushing waters, caused by recent heavy rains.

The second individual, who was floating downstream, required medical treatment along the shore of the stream.

Neither individual has been identified. Rescuers from Barre City, Barre Town, Williamstown and Berlin were called to the scene.
