    WINOOSKI — Sister Ann Elizabeth Marshall, S.P., 81, passed to her eternal reward June 26, 2013, at Our Lady of Providence residence in Winooski, surrounded by her Sisters in Religion and Residents.

    Sister Ann was born in Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 24, 1931, the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget (Fuller) Marshall. Ann’s father died when she was very young and she spent eight years at Maryville Academy where she met the Sisters of Providence.

    She entered their Congregation in Seattle, Wash., on July 17, 1949. Two years later, she took her vows and received her religious name, Sr. Ladislas, until the Sisters returned to their legal names. Sister Ann Marshall was a religious for 63 years. She pursued studies in theology and spirituality in Rome. She was highly involved in education, pastoral work and in spiritual animation. Sister Ann was missioned in Chicago, Ill., before coming to Vermont.

    Besides her Sisters in religion, Sister Ann is survived by nieces, Mrs. Eileen Dwyer and Mrs. Rita Larsen, who came to Vermont recently to visit her; nephews and many other nieces.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Providence Chapel in Winooski, with the Rev. Msgr. Reid Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Winooski.

    Visiting hours were held Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Providence Chapel at 47 West Spring St., Winooski, Vt.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Mother Emilie Scholarship Fund,” St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 5 St. Peter St., Winooski, VT 05404-1397.

    Arrangements are in the care of LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski, Vt.
