• Shumlin to help launch affordable housing project

    SHELBURNE — Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is going to be joining other officials in marking construction on an affordable housing project in the heart of Shelburne village.

    Shumlin will be joining officials Thursday from the Champlain Housing Trust, Housing Vermont and Cathedral Square for a symbolic ground breaking ceremony for the project.

    Chittenden County has among the highest percent of renters burdened with high costs than almost any other county in New England and vacancy rates stand at less than 1 percent.
