    Readers deserve better

    Having read the op-ed piece by John McClaughry in the June 14 Times Argus, I am compelled to write a first time letter. Whatever various organizations Mr. McClaughry may be president of, he lacks intelligence and even a modicum of common sense. Your readership deserves better. His denial of climate change doesn’t accommodate the foot of snow we had recently here on our Chelsea hilltop or the total lack of any weather pattern here in much of the last 20 years. Frankly, it doesn’t accommodate much except the unbridled greed and political aspirations that he and the neocons are getting rich on.

    While intelligent discourse and diverse opinions are always welcome to my eyes and ears, readers of this newspaper and the central Vermont community deserve better than the self-serving drivel that this column contains. I am disappointed, no, I am appalled, that you print this sort of thing.
