WAITSFIELD — Vermont State Police say a two-vehicle crash in Waitsfield was caused by an intoxicated juvenile.

State police say the 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, was driving south on Main Street at excessive speed when he or she passed a vehicle around a left turn and struck another vehicle in the oncoming lane.

The juvenile and the driver of the other vehicle, Arthur Washington, 66, of Fayston, both suffered minor injuries, according to police.

The juvenile was cited on a charge of careless and negligent operation and is scheduled to appear in Washington County family court July 25 to answer the charge.
