Beatrice L. Miles Rites
WILLIAMSTOWN — The concelebrated Mass of Christian burial for Beatrice Letter Miles, of The Gardens, was held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. She died Jan. 26, 2013, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. “Bea” and the Miles family were longtime residents of Averill Street in Barre.
The Rev. Monsignor Reid C. Mayo, former pastor at St. Monica Church, was the principal celebrant, assisted by concelebrants the Rev. Leopold Bilodeau, current pastor, and parochial vicar the Rev. Daniel Lokanga.
The crucifer was Lawrence Reilly.
Organist Rosemary Badeau accompanied singers Sarah Procopio and Ronald Routhier, as well as the congregation, in the hymns, “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Daughter Judith Miles gave the complimentary readings, “The Courage That My Mother Had” by Edna St. Vincent Millay, and “The Watcher” by Margaret Widdemer, to honor her mother.
A reflection, “Memories of a Special Lady,” composed by son John S. Miles, was delivered by him to recognize her life, well lived, who will be forever in our hearts and minds.
Grandson David Miles read from the Old Testament, and granddaughter Jennifer Miles McDonald proclaimed the New Testament lesson.
Monsignor Mayo read from the Gospel and was the homilist.
Granddaughter Julie Miles Allworth led the Prayer of the Faithful.
The gifts were brought to the altar by nephew David Guerin and longtime family friend “Jimmy” Cerasoli.
The honorary escort was provided by Court St. Monica, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, of which “Bea” was a longtime member.
Interment was made in St. Monica Cemetery, with Monsignor Mayo reading the committal prayers.
Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Hilltop Restaurant in Barre Town.
