Barre man pleads guilty to underage sex
BARRE — A Granite City man has admitted having sex with an underage girl and committing other violations.
Seth A. Bell, 19, pleaded guilty to felonious sexual assault, two counts of acts prohibited and two violations of conditions of release in Washington County criminal court Friday. As part of the plea, Bell has agreed to a sentence of six years deferred and four to five days in jail; an additional felony charge of sexual assault and two counts of violating conditions of release have been dismissed.
Judge Thomas Zonay has ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
In pleading guilty, Bell admitted the facts in the police affidavit to be true. According to the affidavit, he had consensual sex with the girl once in February 2012 when she was 13 years old, at his mother’s house in Worcester, and twice in April 2012 when the girl was 14 years old, in his truck behind a school in Waterbury.
On the violations of conditions of release, Bell admitted he had been communicating with the girl by Facebook, text messages and 31 phone calls. As a condition of Bell’s release, he is not to have contact with her or anyone else younger than 16.
