• Auto club honors Barre Tech senior

    BARRE — Tyler Whittemore has added a “golden wrench” to his automotive tool kit.

    The senior in the automotive technology program at the Barre Technical Center is one of 16 students around the state receiving the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts’ Golden Wrench Award this year.

    Whittemore, who has been enrolled in a cooperative work program at Cody Chevrolet, received his award at the technical center this week.

    In addition to an engraved granite plaque, he received $200 in tools and was enrolled in a discount plan that entitles him to up to 60 percent off the purchase of new tools during his school career.

    He also received a one-year membership in the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts and a one-year subscription to the club’s newsletter.
