NORTH RANDOLPH — Nancy Wellman, 80, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington.
She was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Barre, the daughter of Clarence and Robina “Adele” (Shortt) Bartlett.
She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School.
She married George F. Wellman Jr. on Sept. 2, 1950, in Barre.
She worked as a cook at the Randolph Center Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1997.
In earlier years, she was a volunteer at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science and a Girl Scout troop leader.
She enjoyed fishing and watching the Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, and watching the birds.
Survivors include two sons, George Wellman, of Cambridge, and Raymond Wellman, of Goshen, N.H.; a daughter, Joyce Stowell, of Shelburne; a sister, Linda Larivee, of Barre; a brother, Conrad Bartlett, of Lyndon; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1983; a daughter, Beverly Baxter; three sisters, Christine Bigelow, Patricia Vinton and Brenda Harvey; and a brother, Clarence “Bud” Bartlett.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Randolph Center Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 29, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
