• The right plan, right town
    May 21,2013

The Williamstown School District is about delivering a quality education that ensures your kids and grandkids, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters, and neighbors and friends learn the skills and tools they will need to succeed. Evidence of this was presented in the Associated Press story “Schools share ideas to improve learning” (Times Argus, May 20) that told us of two local students who were not doing well in the normal four walls and a desk atmosphere, but they excelled when given alternatives that made sense to their particular learning styles. Personal learning plans before personal learning plans were cool.

Do not mistake this for an accident or one-off event. You have provided the community backing, your Williamstown School Board has provided the policy guidance, our school’s administrators have provided the support, our staff have provided the direct assistance, and our students have provided the motivated response.

It is all part of a long-term deliberate plan to make sure every child and young adult in our schools will receive what that individual needs. I like to think of it as the Williamstown Academy of Excellence.

Please take a minute and call the Williamstown schools to tell them, “Now, that’s what I’m talking about!”
