    RYEGATE — Doris Kathleen (Gibson) Berry, 105, passed peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus, on May 18, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Glastonbury, Conn.

    Doris was born in Ryegate on Feb. 3, 1908, to Herbert and Jessie (Kingsbury) Gibson. She graduated Woodsville High School with the class of 1927, then from the Plymouth Normal School, class of 1931.

    She married Roger William Berry, of Campton, N.H., on June 30, 1934, at the Gibson homestead in Ryegate.

    After raising her children, she continued her career as a remedial reading teacher at the Peacham Academy and the Newbury schools in Vermont.

    Doris was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church (Coventors), attending the Walter Harvey Meeting House in Mosquitoville. She also belonged to Gideon’s International and the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church Women’s Fellowship and Ryegate Home Dem. She was the oldest living Ryegate resident and therefore, holder of the Boston Post Cane.

    Doris was predeceased by her husband, Roger Berry, on June 24, 1996; her daughter-in-law Patricia Gould Berry; and by her siblings, May, Maurice and Ruth.

    She is survived by her children, Priscilla J. Berry Blanchard and husband David, of Glastonbury, Conn., and Wayne S. Berry and friend Leona, of Essex Junction, Vt.; three grandchildren, Yvonne Schraml and husband Joseph, Timothy Berry and friend Bernice, and Scott Berry and wife Valarie; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Schraml II and wife Monique, Katelyn Schraml, Alyssa Berry and Amanda Berry; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaeden and Bently Schraml; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

    A funeral service will be on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church, with burial following in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
