MONTPELIER — A suburban New York man released from a life-without-parole sentence after new DNA tests cast doubt on his conviction for killing his wife in a Vermont condominium almost two decades ago is due to be arraigned again in the killing.
John Grega is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Brattleboro on a charge of aggravated murder for the August 1994 death of his wife Christine Grega, who was killed in a Dover condominium where the couple and their young son were vacationing.
She had been beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled.
John Grega’s 1995 conviction was vacated last summer after new tests found DNA of an unknown male in samples taken after Christine Grega’s death.
John Grega has been living at his parents’ home in Lake Grove, Long Island.MORE IN This Just InBARRE TOWN — One person was displaced in an apartment fire in Graniteville Saturday morning.
