Crash damages car and houseMay 07,2013
JEFFERSONVILLE — A mailbox was destroyed and a sport-utility vehicle and house both damaged, but the woman behind the wheel of the wayward SUV escaped serious injury Saturday afternoon, police said.
Vermont State Police said Mary Niemen, 43, of Jeffersonville suffered a “minor rash” on her arms and nose when the airbag in her 2004 Honda Element deployed in an accident that occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday.
According to police, Nieman was driving north on Route 108 near the intersection of Notch Glen Road when she lost control of her vehicle. Nieman’s Honda swerved off the right side of the road, knocked over a mailbox, and sideswiped a large tree before colliding head-on with a house located on Notch Glen Drive.
Police described damage to both the house and car as “moderate.”
Nieman, who suffered only airbag-related injuries according to police, was issued a ticket for failing to maintain control of her vehicle.MORE IN This Just InWhen a playwright who has achieved success with dark realistic drama turns his pen to comedy, it...
