Monday, May 6, marks week number four of “On the Road” with the Agency of Transportation. Road construction is in full swing across the state.

Montpelier’s District Heat Project continues at two worksites. The State Street portion should wrap up this week. Drivers will see temporary pavement along with curb restoration and sidewalk work. Meanwhile, the School Street site will have some pipe welding going on throughout the week.

Barre City will be milling and starting to cold plane on Summer and Elm streets this week. This will continue for 24 hours. Drivers will find sections closed to through traffic as the project progresses.

Routes 12 and 12A in Northfield will begin the paving phase starting around Thursday. This should last for about three days. Parking will be very limited on Main Street on Monday.

I-89 northbound from Waterbury to Richmond will experience lane closures and a speed reduction to 55 mph. Delays are expected throughout the day. Traffic control will be present. Work on Bridge #80 on I-89 in Milton will reduce traffic to one lane with a speed reduction to 50 mph during the project. Motorists should expect delays going through the work zone.

A lane closure remains on I-89 southbound at MM 73.3 in Richmond. Ledge scaling is being conducted behind jersey barriers in the passing lane. Drivers are asked to merge early and slow down to 55 mph in the work zone.

Waitsfield and Warren have two projects on Route 100. A paving project from Warren to Waitsfield will cause delays while a bridge project north of Warren Village will require a detour.

Work continues in Cambridge where a nine-mile paving project between Cambridge and Fletcher will cause delays. The roundabout installation at the intersection of Vermont 108 and 15 is very close to a bridge replacement project on Route 108. A temporary bridge will maintain two-lane traffic. Delays should be expected.

Route 2 in Danville will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic during the week. Motorists should expect delays.

Vermont Route 116 between Hinesburg and Starksboro will have two work zones for the same project. Work will begin in Hinesburg (headed to Starksboro) while another work zone will start in Starksboro (headed to Hinesburg). This is a paving project that will require alternating one-way traffic during work hours. Delays are expected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Route 7 between Charlotte and South Burlington will have night work ongoing today through Thursday the 9th. This work will involve the final paving phase as well as driveway tie-ins. Traffic control will be present. Motorists should exercise extreme caution traveling through a nighttime work zone.

Route 2B in St. Johnsbury is reduced to one lane with a speed restriction of 40 mph. Route 2 in St. Johnsbury will see a bridge replacement project. A temporary bridge will be in place soon.

I-91 southbound from Newbury to St. Johnsbury is a 19-mile paving project that will include remarking the roadway and guardrail work. Delays are expected.

New projects coming online this week include Route 100 in Killington just north of Route 4. This road repair will require closing one lane. Delays are expected during morning and afternoon commutes.

US Route 7 between Manchester and Bennington (exit 4 to Exit 1) will have road construction at different locations along the way. Drivers should use caution and expect delays. The good news there is that the project should be completed in about four days.
